Carola blev tillfrågad av producenten Stein Berge Svendsen ifall hon ville sjunga in ledmotivet till musikalen "Sophies World" på album-versionen som skulle ges ut i Norge. "Sofies värld" är ursprungligen en bok av Jostein Gaarder och musikalen hade urpremiär i Tyskland den 12 juni 1998. På album-versionen "Songs from Sophies World" medverkar förutom Carola även Morten Harket och textförfattaren Öystein Wiik. Singeln "A world of wonders" kom ut i Norge den 5 augusti och låg etta några veckor i september på Norsktoppen, som är Norges motsvarighet till Svensktoppen. Albumet "Songs from Sophies World" gavs även ut i Sverige. Stein Berge Svendsen producerade också "Dreamer" från samlingsskivan "Det bästa av Carola".
Carola har rollen som Hilde när hon sjunger ledmotivet. Albert Knag är en FN-officer i Libanon och Hilde är hans dotter som han lämnat kvar i Norge. Major Albert skriver en bok till Hilde om idehistoria. Boken handlar om Sophie Amundsen och hur hon växer upp från att vara en liten flicka till att bli en självständig individ. "A world of wonders" är Hildes sång till Sophie.
